When to show your child to an orthodontist
- Teeth grow crooked or overlap
- Large gaps between teeth, or teeth are crowded
- Your child often breathes through the mouth or snores
- Sucks a thumb or lip, or used a pacifier for a long time
- The lower jaw sticks out or sits noticeably back
- Baby teeth fell out very early and permanent ones are slow to come
This is not a diagnosis but a reason for a check-up. Much is easier to correct while the jaw is still growing — that is why the first check-up should not be put off.
